Today Nokia has announced the release of firmware PR 1.2 for the N900. This awaited update has a ton of bug fixes with a few new features, listed below. This major release is avaliable Wednesday 26th May worldwide with a UK release today (Tuesday) though as of yet I have not seen any indiction on my phone of an avaliable update. I’ll just have to wait. If you want to check if your able to download the update get yourself over to the App Manager then Update. There is also some bad news as well. It was rumored that the upcoming MeeGo operating system from the collaboration with Intel was going to be avaliable for the N900 but this has been squashed by Nokia stating the new operating system will be developed on the N900 but never released to the public and has stated that it will continue to support Maemo for the N900 for the foreseeable future.

List of Improvements:

Longpress to enter numbers/symbols on the keyboard.

A revamped virtual keyboard.

The ability to rearrange icons, no ‘more’ button in the menu.

Changes to the camera UI, and a night mode for both photos and video.

Qt 4.6.2 is now pre-installed.

Video in Skype and Google Talk.

The web browser now features a button to activate the portrait mode and a few more option while in the portrait mode.

The browser benchmark also seems to have shot up from 8687 to 10141 with this leaked release.

USSD codes now work.

Type to search for apps in the Application Manager.

Another addition is an email widget as well for the desktop.

Updates to the Ovi Maps application, but no voice navigation yet.

Since the 6-month hiatus of Samsung’s YP-P3 firmware release of version 2.20 and the new SDK editor on Adobe Flash CS4 used to create custom P3 UCIs with Widget enabled, everyone believed that the YP-P3′s reign already reached its end of popularity and moving into extinction.

The Good News: Samsung has recently released YP-P3′s firmware version 2.22 to patch up most of the lags, glitches, bugs, and other problems found in the 2.20 firmware.

The Bad News: Unfortuantely, there is no more new features to this new firmware. Only fixes bugs and other problems found in V2.20. When this firmware was released, the 2.20 firmware was pulled out and has been replaced by it…

If anyone needs the 2.20 version, please reply to this review… I’ll be sure to login to this site at least once per week…

The Worse News: This firmware may most likely be the VERY LAST update from Samsung for the YP-P3 product model.

Even worse news (a bit personal; I apologize): Well, I just turned 18 on March of this year (2010)… The Republic of Korea government ordered me if I wanted to keep my Korean citizen or abandon it… If I keep the citizen, I am obligated to get rid of my other citizenships (US, Canada, Commonwealth, Japan) and obliged to serve in a MANDATORY 2-year military tour in South Korea… If I abandon the citizen, all of my registered accounts on Korean online websites (registrations from 6 months ago to present) will be permanently deleted… Which is the one I chose in the end… Therefore:

To make a long story short: I no longer have a Emodio (SamsungMobile) account… From this day, I officially renounce my title on this site as “Emodio Korea Representative” and abandon ALL Emodio Korea requests…

>>>Downoad Samsung YP-P3 Firmware V2.22 (Korea/Multi-) here.

All other firmware downloads: Reply to this update thread or PM me…

I know I’m kinda late for uploading these sort of things, but I just had too much on my mind to think about… Last year, I set up a poll “Backpack vs Messenger Bag” on the old SamsungZone with the Backpack in lead with several votes… Despite the suggestions to “get the bag” by most of the members of this site + family members + friends, I decided to try the messenger bag by Alienware. It is SOOO nice… I can fit my M11X notebook + A/C Adapter + Mobile Surge Protector in one compartment (despite its heaviness and weightly shoulder)… Still, I love it for its unique style and its features:

Material: Black / 840D (Ballistic) Nylon

Dimensions: 52.1 x 19.1 x 33 (cm)

Notebook Compatiability Dimensions: 41.9 x 29.2 x 5.1 (cm); generally 17.3″ laptops/notebooks

Additional Compartments: Mobile Phone w/ Wi-Fi jammer layer

Other Features: Padded shoulder strap, Wireless Security Shield Pocket, Semi-rigid front panel provides extra support and protection, loads of interior pockets to carry your gear, Wi-Fi Jammer layer protects your system from hackers.

Service/Support: Lifetime Limited Warranty

Here is my review of the SanDisk Cruzer Blade 8GB.

I had purchased this to replace my stolen 16GB SanDisk Cruzer. This had cost me £9.99 from Play.com. I had decided to purchase this as it is cheaper than all of the other models. 8GB for £9.99 is a bargain! Click ‘Read More’ for the review .

Specs:

Product Type: USB Flash Drive

Storage Capacity: 2GB to 16GB

Interface Type: Hi-Speed USB

Readyboost Compatible

Keyring Hole

Size: 41.5mm x 17.6mm x 7.4mm

This USB flash drive is very small and very light. Here is a size comparison:

I find it impressive how so much data can be stored on a small little thing like this. I have purchased the 8GB version from Play.com. Here is an unboxing video:

As you can see from the unboxing, there is nothing in there but the flash drive itself. Packaging I think was poor as I could feel the flash drive moving a lot inside the cardboard packaging. This is a plug-and-play flash drive that will automatically install the driver onto your computer system. Once I had plugged it into my system, I had performed a read and write speed test:

As you can see from the video, it is a pretty slow flash drive. SanDisk usually produce fast products and I think they have gotten all of this wrong. Perhaps they had to sacrifice speed for the size? If so, why? Transferring some files over took some time to complete.

Overall, I am disappointed at SanDisk for producing this drive. Everything is good apart from the slow read and write speeds. ‘Hi-Speed USB’? I don’t think so.

Pros:

Small and compact therefore very portable.

Very cheap for the storage size.

Has a keyring hole so you can attach it to your keys.

Comes with 2 years warrenty.

Cons:

Slow speed.

No cap to protect the USB so the USB connector can be damaged easily.

Pictures:

Here is a tutorial on how to jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad running on 3.1.3 or less and 3.2 on the iPad. This jailbreak is UNTETHERED so it will allow you to turn off the device and turn it back on without running the jailbreaking tool again like Blackra1n.

Spirit is a tool that allows you to jailbreak your idevice that is running on the latest firmware (3.1.3 for iPods and iPhones, 3.2 for iPads). This version of the jailbreak will allow you to reboot the device without having to run the jailbreak tool again to activate it. This is also known as an untethered jailbreak.

Requirements:

An ACTIVATED device. (Able to scroll through your apps and not in ‘Plug To Itunes’ mode.

An UNJAILBROKEN device. Restore in iTunes to remove the previous jailbreak.

iTunes9+

Spirit Jailbreak Tool Download Here

Prerequisites

Before running Spirit, it is recommended that you have created a backup of your device. This will ensure that if anything goes wring, you can just simply restore your files.

Just right-click your device in iTunes and click backup. Store this backup safely!

If you are already using a TETHERED jailbreak (such as Blackra1n), you will need to remove it. To do this, restore to a previously created backup or do a full restore.

It is also recommended that you backup your SHSH blobs too. Download this and follow the steps.

Once it is restored and your device is ready, you are ready to jailbreak your device!

Step 1

Download the Spirit Jailbreak Tool. If you are running Windows, download the Windows version and in you’re on a Mac, download the Mac version.

Step 2

Plug your device into your computer. If iTunes comes up, close it.

Run Spirit

Now your device should say ‘RESTORE IN PROGRESS’ then ‘REESTORE COMPLETE’.

A pink loading screen screen should come up and wait till it finishes and your device reboots.

Once it had rebooted, you are successfully jailbroken!

Troubleshooting

If you are encountering any error messages, change the compatibility mode of spirit to ‘Windows 98/ME‘ and make sure you run as Administrator.

There have been reports that there are problems with Spirit with ACER computer systems. Just use a different computer.
