[Review] SanDisk Cruzer Blade

Here is my review of the SanDisk Cruzer Blade 8GB.
I had purchased this to replace my stolen 16GB SanDisk Cruzer. This had cost me £9.99 from Play.com. I had decided to purchase this as it is cheaper than all of the other models. 8GB for £9.99 is a bargain! Click ‘Read More’ for the review

Specs:
- Product Type: USB Flash Drive
- Storage Capacity: 2GB to 16GB
- Interface Type: Hi-Speed USB
- Readyboost Compatible
- Keyring Hole
Size: 41.5mm x 17.6mm x 7.4mm
This USB flash drive is very small and very light. Here is a size comparison:

I find it impressive how so much data can be stored on a small little thing like this. I have purchased the 8GB version from Play.com. Here is an unboxing video:
As you can see from the unboxing, there is nothing in there but the flash drive itself. Packaging I think was poor as I could feel the flash drive moving a lot inside the cardboard packaging. This is a plug-and-play flash drive that will automatically install the driver onto your computer system. Once I had plugged it into my system, I had performed a read and write speed test:
As you can see from the video, it is a pretty slow flash drive. SanDisk usually produce fast products and I think they have gotten all of this wrong. Perhaps they had to sacrifice speed for the size? If so, why? Transferring some files over took some time to complete.
Overall, I am disappointed at SanDisk for producing this drive. Everything is good apart from the slow read and write speeds. ‘Hi-Speed USB’? I don’t think so.
Pros:
- Small and compact therefore very portable.
- Very cheap for the storage size.
- Has a keyring hole so you can attach it to your keys.
- Comes with 2 years warrenty.
Cons:
- Slow speed.
- No cap to protect the USB so the USB connector can be damaged easily.

Very slick…
Although I prefer sticking with my old Sandisk Cruzer Contour 8GB Stick… (+ Lifetime Warranty)…, that might be nice when my Cruzer breaks down one day…
